Stress in business use has been occurring as the spread of mobile communications becomes more personalized. The Institute will conduct hands-on experiments, trend quantitative analysis, case studies and study group meetings, and develop business strategy theories in a business environment where individuals are armed with ICT.

With respect to disaster prevention, the Institute will conduct international joint empirical research, suggest policies, and support overseas affiliated organizations (working in such areas as establishing communications during emergencies, training disaster prevention CIO personnel, developing disaster prevention applications in mobile fields, supporting the development of early warning systems, and utilizing integrated disaster simulation systems).

Problems of the mobile society involving children have been growing since the Institute's establishment, and this fiscal year, the Institute is conducting analyses from the three aspects of literacy systemization, parent / child workshops, and cooperation with government bodies, on the theme of "Hypothesis verification trial aimed at concrete solutions of problems linked with actual locations."

In the US and Europe, the service of "RFID tag in the human body" has been introduced in the society. The purpose of this project is to research on the social background and reasons of launching this service, psychological changing (i.e. before and after served) of users and the intention of service providers and to measure the impression of the third party.

The objective of this research is to figure out about antipathy against mobile phone -- what it really is, why or when it occurs, and so on -- by interview or questionnaire to antipathetic people.

According to the previous survey with UTA, e-waste problem was pointed out in US, Italy and Korea. As the next phase, this research is clarifying the factors or causes of issue by conducting the questionnaire to users and interviewing to the handset vendors, the mobile operators and the recycling factories and then finding the solutions to solve e-waste problem.

The objective of this research is to seek the image of 'universal mobile phone' which is provided for anyone regardless his/her age, or whether he/she is handicapped or not (mobile phone in this context is not only handsets(terminal) but including network service, application or contents service). Supposed methods are some interviews with aged or handicapped people, and also with operators, manufacturers, service provider.

Clarifying the unique, deeply-rooted cultural characteristics (international character) of each country and the common features of both China and Japan (trends in globalization), two countries with different cultural backgrounds, based on objective data concerning the use of mobile communications.

Inquire about the danger of the mobile phone use (loose concentration, psychological shake, narrowness in view etc...) whilst walking, riding on the bicycle and driving the car by the various experienced simulation.

This research aims to identify and clarify positive influence of the mobile phone technologies and services in various countries in the world through investigations, based on news, and the other secondary sources in past few years, and also through supplementary interviews conducted for each country.
